Cole's birthday was yesterday. As I told him to go get dressed for church, he looked shocked. With tears in his eyes he said, "but it is my birthday, I thought I would get to stay home from church!". He was VERY upset that he had to go to church and the whole three hours kept muttering that it was not fair. Despite the church thing, I think he had a good birthday. He picked lasagna, homemade breadsticks, and strawberries for dinner. For desert, he chose to have brownies and ice cream. He got some good gifts amoung which was a gameboy game. He was excited to play it, but at first could not find his DS. Anna eventually "found" it under her pillow. The screen had been cracked by "Taylor" (so says Anna). It only took me 2 minutes to get Anna to confess. She got frustrated while playing a game and hit the screen really hard. Needless to say, Cole could not play his new game. Anna will be donating her $7 to have it fixed.
Cole is such an important part of our family. His personality is so much like mine. He has a tender heart and does not like conflict (unless it is with Anna, then he loves it). He will still hug and kiss me as long as nobody is around and "I love you mom" is still often heard coming from him. He is really good at math and reading. when doing a job, he almost always does it right the first time. Taylor adores Cole and loves to mimic his actions. Cole is having a birthday party on Friday with 10 of his "closest" friends (half of whom I have never met). He keeps adding people to his list because he does not want to make anyone feel bad about not being invited. We love Cole so much and are so greatful he is part of our family!

Love you.
Oh,my. That same DS-under-the-sisters-pillow-blame-it-on-someone-else-scenario could have been my two oldest! Only my daughter is harder to get to confess. Any secrets?? Happy Birthday Cole!
ohhhh i cant believe you made him go to church! hehehe just kidding! :) it sounds like he was spoiled in a great way on his special day. hey i love lasagna, but i think youll have moved by the time my birthday rolls around again. that incident with the ds was sad, but i have to admit i laughed!
Happy Birthday Cole!! Wow Amy, I can't believe you have a 9 year old! I love this post because now I know my kids aren't the only ones who love to fight & don't like going to church! lol
Are you sure he get the "tender heart" and "doesn't like confrontation" thing from you... He is a boy after my own desert heart!! Brownies and ice cream baby, thats all you need.
It's hard to believe that you two have a 9 year old! It's nice to keep in touch this way.
Happy late birthday, Cole! I did think about him, because it's also my brother's birthday. :) How crazy that he's 9. I can't believe how old I must be getting. :) Ahhh....school...I'm so far from that point right now, but I already have mixed emotions about it, as I watch my friends send their kids to school and hear their feelings on the subject. I'm sure it's bittersweet...but mostly sweet. We loved seeing you guys and miss you already. We can't wait till Thanksgiving. I'll be sure to update our blog again when we find out what we're having. It'll hopefully be the middle of next week. Sure love you guys!
Amy, I am laughing so hard right now. Anna is hiss-terical! Tell Cole happy Birthday (late) for us. he is such a good boy!
Happy (late) birthday Cole! The ds situation sounds exactly like something that would happen at our house! Never a dull moment, right?
Happy Belated Birthday Cole! What a sweetheart he is. I think it's so neat he still cuddles you when no one is around. That was funny about the DS being under her pillow! Hope you guys are able to have it fixed!
Andy
